Is the new Benefit Badgal bang mascara really worth all the hype??

As you know there has been so much talk over this brand new mascara which claims you get lashes out of this world.

The claim's -

* 36 hour wear
* Smudge Proof
* Water resistant
* Volumising Formula
* Pro Vitamin B5 known to help fuel thickness & strength the lashes
* Slim flexible brush to reach root to tip, corner to corner, upper and lower lashes for big volume with 360° reach

This mascara is said to give you full blast volumised lashes without weighing them down thanks to the gravity defying formula containing aero-particles.

This mascara has quite a few claims and to be honest it reels you in to want to try it. For me I actually  picked up the small travel size just in case it wasn't something I would get on with. I have such issues with mascara, after a few hours of wearing all mascaras seem to smudge on the lower lashes leaving me with bad panda eyes.

For the travel size 4g - price is £10.50

For the Full size 8.5g - Price is £21.50

So down to the nitty gritty eh.... my thoughts and of course pictures (as that's what everyone wants to really see).

OK so lets see what my lashes look like without any mascara at all....

As you can see, I don't really have much when it comes down to my lashes, they have a little bit of curl to them but not a great deal. My lashes are actually quite fair swell so to me I don't think they are that noticeable.

* Before applying this mascara I would highly recommend curling your lashes before hand to get the best look possible.

With this mascara if most definitely lengthens the lashes, I noticed a huge difference straight away. The brush helps to coat every single lash so you can see a big change in the volume of your lashes.

This is the look after applying the mascara to both the top lashes and the bottom lashes. You can see there is an obvious difference in length., but don't all mascaras offer that? Pretty much yes!!

I will be honest this mascara does feel incredibly light, when I mean light.. I mean to the point if feels like I have no eye make up on which is a definite pro! It does a fab job at coating all of the lashes as you can see in the above picture it shows all of my lashes that some of my other mascaras don't.

I think there are positives and negatives to this mascara, if you carry on with a couple more coats to the lashes, you will create that spider eye look, and create quite a thick root which can then make it bit harder to get a fluttery natural vibe. Some people quite like this and some people don't, I suppose it depends on what sort of look your wanting to create. But if your after more of a natural look like this then just keep it to one full coat!!

Now they do claim that it is smudge proof, I have to say that this isn't quite true in my eyes. I always struggle with panda eyes after applying mascara to my bottom lashes, and even after applying powder under my eyes this mascara did smudge a bit under the bottom lashes after a few hours of wearing.

As you can imagine I have not tested the 36 hour wear test, I can't imagine many people have. I will say the actual mascara does hold pretty well, apart from the small amount of smudging underneath the mascara really held onto the lashes throughout the day. (Thumbs up)

I do think this is a great mascara, but I find that there are others that are better or even on par with this one. I wouldn't pay £21.50 for the full size I just think there are others at a cheaper price that can give you the same sort of finish. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't be against buying the travel size again.

If you haven't seen already I have done a 1st impressions video using this mascara a few weeks back so if you want to go give that a watch, let me know what your thoughts are :)

So what are your actual thoughts on this mascara? Do you think all the marketing hype was really worth it?

Time for another wedding catch up, and yes I know it has been a while since I kept you updated with our plans. If I'm honest with doing all the wedding plans and working full time, I have found it difficult to keep up to date with youtube and my blog, but I have currently got a couple of days off right now so I'm making use of this spare time.

*Photo by Annie Spratt on Unsplash

So a few months ago I got in touch with one of our local florist's and went in with some idea's and pictures as to what were thinking of having for our day. I had looked up a few other local florists but if I'm honest this particular company I know my fiancé has used them for valentines flowers for myself so I know the quality is fantastic and the staff are a brilliant help.

I would most definitely recommend researching different florists around your local area, or at least local to your wedding venue. get some price quotes together and compare the different companies to see which comes out best for yourselves.

The staff members from our florist's had shown me some pictures from other weddings they had done with some ideas that I was thinking about, this gave me the opportunity to see how different flowers looked, they me some great advise and have always kept in contact with me informed of different prices.

One tip I can share -   Join a wedding facebook group and read other peoples post, get involved in the discussions and ask questions. Everyone is so kind and helpful on their and you can get some great inspirations from other people. I actually asked about flowers on their, asking for rough prices and what people thought was reasonable/ too much or too little. Everyone on that group really do help if your unsure of anything. I will leave the link to the group I am joined in so that if there are any of you getting married and need some advice you can head over and join. (It is free and you can leave whenever you like)

This one is called wedding items for sale - however it is people selling things, asking for advise, giving out advise, offering inspiration etc.

I debated wether to have artificial flowers but after a few discussions with family, friends and the facebook group, I decided against it because of cost. I thought that artificial flowers would come out cheaper than real but after talking with a lot of people this didn't seem to be the case. I have kept the type and style of flowers to a minimum Im not that clued up on the different types so I knew I didn't want to be over faced with ones that I either couldn't pronounce the name of or even knew anything about.

As we are hoping to be married outside and in the summer I finally came to the decision that real flowers would most definitely look better in the end, but this is a matter of opinion so go with what you feel would suit you better.

Examples of some questions you may want to ask your florist!

*Are you available on our chosen date?
*Can we see some examples of your work?
*Which flowers are in season for the month we get married?
*Does the price include delivery and set up?
*Can you deliver to our chosen venue?
*How much deposit do I have to put down and when is the final balance due?
*We have a budget, which flowers will work best for it?
*How much time will you need the set the flowers up in the venue?

You may not need to ask these questions but just incase the florist don't already talk to you about any of this, bear these questions in mind just incase!! Take a note pad and jot it down!!

Examples of what you may need flowers for!

Brides Bouquet
Bridesmaid Bouquet's
Button Holes
Flowers for venue decor - pillars, bandstands, aisles etc
Table decorations if these include flowers
Flowers if incorporated with the cake

You may not need or want flowers for all of these things, remember it is your day and it comes down to personal choice and lets be honest cost too!!

So thats today's wedding diary catch up, I hope you enjoyed this read.
If your planning a wedding too, how are you getting on with your plans??

Don't you find it so annoying when you run out of some of the most needed essential skincare item, but your in a rush to find something quick.?

Yeah, that happened to me about a month or so ago, I had nipped in to boots on a shopping trip just after Christmas, I was quite happy browsing through all the make up aisle's until my other half started to get little impatient and to be honest a bit fed up as it was coming up towards the end of the day. I had dragged him around a fair few shops, he was getting a little tired (bless him), I was making my way up to the till and it sprung to mind that I had run out of cleanser to remove make up, so as you can guess I pretty much picked up the first thing I saw at a reasonable price.

That brings me to the new Garnier Oil infused cleansing micellar water, which I didn't actually realise  until I got home that it was a newly released product. I will be honest I picked it up because of the price as a lot of skincare items now can be quite pricey, however I managed to get this at £3.99 (Introductory Price). Normally £5.99

I hadn't really taken much notice when picking this up in Boot's as I just knew I needed something to remove my make up and at that point in the day I just picked up whatever was in front of me.

It was when I got back home that I had a proper look at what I had picked up, I have used micellar water's before so I knew that I was great at removing make up. I hadn't tried Oil infused waters though so this is something new for me.

I have to say I love this micellar water, it is really gentle on my skin and eyes, as this is designed for delicate skin & eyes anyway. It removes waterproof make up, cleanses and comforts the skin. There is no need to rinses with water after using this.

I expected this to leave my skin with a greasy finish to my skin after the first time of using this, however this removed my make up from my skin without having to rub harshly and then left my skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. There was no greasy or oily finish to the skin, it just left my skin super cleansed.

To use this all you need to do is the shake the bottle to infuse the oil & water together, apply to a cotton pad and simply wipe away the make up from your skin, there is no need to rub the skin as the oil just breaks down the make up. Below I have linked my recent video from youtube where I tried & tested this product!!

So this is my new skincare find, I will definitely be heading back to Boot's to pick this up, If you have sensitive skin this is a product you should definitely try as it gently removes dirt & make up but soothes the skin throughout the whole removal.

Let me know if you have tried this yet and what are your thoughts??

SKINCARE FIND | GARNIER OIL INFUSED MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER

So I know it has been a little while since I last posted about the wedding, but I'm back today as it  is officially new year I thought I would get on top of my one of biggest goals and get cracking with the blog post writing.

Since I last posted about the wedding, we have started to get a lot of things into place now, it really is beginning to feel real, I mean we are only 6 months away! (6 MONTHS)??
The past year has just flown by.

So one thing we had sorted before the end of 2017 was the wedding bands, this was surprisingly quite  difficult to come to a decision. Obviously your engagement ring is such a important piece to choose for either your partner or if you chose it yourself like me, but the wedding bands have got to be right too as its not going to be leaving your finger. (Hopefully)

For my fiancé he wasn't too fussed about what sort of band he had as long as it was light and thin, so we actually picked his out pretty sharpish, however choosing mine was a whole different story.

Originally I wanted to go back to the jewellers where we picked out my engagement ring in Birmingham, as they had a matching wedding band to my ring,  however after having a think about it my ring is quite unusual and I felt like the band took away the attention from the ring so I was put off by that idea. We decided to head to a few of our local jewellers in Lincoln City and try as many different styles as I could.

Sharing 1 tip with you would be to definitely try as many bands as you can so you know you have tried all the different styles of bands.

Like I said above I have got an unusual engagement ring ( I love it by the way) but it did make choosing a wedding band quite difficult. A lot of the advisers in the jewellers often pointed out that my ring was beautiful and different so I knew I had a little bit of a challenge. I had a few people advise me from my family that a plain band would be better as it wouldn't take the attention away from my engagement ring, however the look of a plain band on my finger just didn't look right. I still wanted a little bit of sparkle on the band but nothing too heavy.

I think we had been into about 4 jewellers before we finally reached Goldsmith's where I found the perfect band to match my ring, before finding it though I still tried about 6 rings on. It was actually my fiancé that asked me try this band on, and put together with my ring, they fitted perfectly together.

Another tip I will share with you is to try and stick to the same material as your engagement ring, if your budget allows. I have a platinum ring so I knew that going for a platinum band would sit better together. For example if you already have a platinum engagement ring and then decide on a white gold wedding band, over time the colour on the white gold band will wear differently. However this is not a definite must, it is just a thought to bear in mind. Something I learnt from an adviser.

If you haven't already seen my engagement ring then I will leave a photo below for you to see, these also include some of the wedding bands I tried in a few jewellers.

Have you found your wedding bands yet? Or if not what are your thoughts to some of theses?

I have always wanted to purchase one of the popular Joules coat's ever since since I saw one in a magazine a couple of years ago. It was the top of my wish list!! I instantly fell in love with it when I saw it, I was forever walking into the Joules store to try one on but I could never part with my money to get one, even though I know it would be such a great investment as you use a coat pretty much most days. I was forever buying cheaper coats from Primark (not that Primark isn't great, the quality of their clothing just gets better and better), but when you wear a coat everyday they do get to a point where they start to look very used and unwearable.

About a month ago my fiancé and I were having a walk round a department store and came across Joules and as I always do, I tried a few coats on and had a good look in the mirror, I pondered for a good ten minutes as to whether I should get one, my fiancé saw that look on my face and said he would treat to me one as he knew I really wanted to get it. The colour I always wanted to get was the beautiful yellow with the blue and white stripes on the inside but the more I looked at it on I felt it was washing me out as I'm not the most tanned of skin. I tried the red on and instantly fell in love with it, which I didn't think I would with the red as it isn't a colour I normally go for.

The red just stands out and really styles an outfit together, and its the perfect colour for winter. I have already had a few compliments on the coat which makes me want to wear it all the time. I'm so glad I have a joules coat added to my collection as it's something I have lusted over for quite a while now.

This is the coast waterproof jacket from the right as rain collection in the beautiful bright red colour. It is a 100% waterproof so brilliant for those Autumn/winter seasons but also for those showery spring months too. It is lovely and warm but breathable so it doesn't feel too heavy to wear. It fits in all the right places which is what I love about this coat. Its perfect!

Match this with some black skinny jeans and some bright wellingtons and your all set to go!!

The link to the coat is down below so be sure to check out, it is also available in French Navy too.

RED IS THE COLOUR FOR WINTER | JOULES COAT

A completely different post today, I am going to talk about a couple of tips to help you shift that bad mood during the day. This is real guy's trust me!

I will admit that I am one of those girls who can sometimes suffer with waking up in a foul mood and I have no idea where it has come from. Unfortunately it is just one of those things.

It has taken me a hell of a long time to figure out ways of distracting myself from those nasty mood swings, and now that I am starting to find them out I thought it would be a great time to tell you about them especially as we are heading into the those dark nights and winter days. You may not find these to help but they are there to give a try if you want. I am trying my hardest to remember that it is just a bad mood sometimes and that is it and there is no need for me to carry that bad mood throughout the day, because if you think about it, there is nothing worse than letting someone else see you in that way as it could also effect their day too, so I'm learning to just smile and crack on with it.

But if you need a bit of help, then give these little tips a try!!

Talk to someone

This could be anyone; a friend, colleague, partner, parent or even somebody new in your path. When I am at work sometimes I find myself really irritated or frustrated and I just don't know why. I have a couple of people I can go and talk to at work that simply make me laugh and instantly take my mood away or even make me realise that whatever negative thoughts I am thinking, they are just not worth it. Why would I want to ruin a whole day being moody and negative when I can have a great day surrounded by friends and simply enjoying what is around me.

Take 5 and listen to music

Most people have a song that suits their mood, well I know I certainly do but just recently I have created a playlist on Spotify of songs that seem to help me relax and just zone out for a little bit and I honestly feel like this helps. I find that slow piano music helps me out or slow songs from movie soundtracks help.
Just find a song that you feel your happiest to when listening to and keep that in mind if you feel a bit down in the dumps, it is sure to brighten your mood.

Write it out

This is also a new one for me, but my god has this helped me out. Have a notepad near you, weather that's at work, your bedside table, in the kitchen, in your handbag. Basically anywhere that you want. If your feeling down, angry, irritated whatever your feeling right at that moment write it down in a notepad, and keep it to yourself. You can always rip it up after or keep it that's up to you, but you need a way of releasing that negative energy and I have found this to be a great help to me.

Organise your favourite space in your home

This might sound like an unusual thing to do but again it's another way I find to cheer myself. I have a couple of favourite spaces in my home, those being my dressing room and my bedroom. When I'm feeling like the day isn't working in my favour or just feel pretty crap I find myself getting up and re-organising my dressing room around or having a bit of a declutter. I feel like it helps to clear my head and make a fresh start during the day, and getting rid of any negative energy in that particular space.

Treat yourself

It doesn't have to be expensive at all, but just treating yourself to something new can help lift your spirits a bit. Weather that be a new piece of make up, new item of clothing, something to do with your favourite hobby, something for your house, even your favourite food or drink. It could be anything. We all like to receive presents every now and then so why not go and pick something up for yourself. I love it when I can pick out some new make up or a new item of clothing, it boots my confidence and makes me feel a little happier. It is a simple little trick if you've got a spare bit of cash available.

Walk if off

You've probably heard a lot of people say this is a good way of calming yourself down or a great way of relaxing. I don't do this one very often but sometimes I have had to literally walk away from several things that put me in a foul mood. I have had times where I have slammed the front door and just walked out of the house not knowing where I was going to go, but I ended up just going for a short walk around my village. I have found that putting my headphones in walking to some music just helps clear my mind and calms me down and just take some time away from any issues I might be thinking about.

I could put in a few others but I'm still trying those tips out to see how they work for me, but for now I will leave you with these ideas that I find useful. I hope they help you in some way!!

Let me know if you have any tips too I would love to learn new ways to shift that bad mood!

CHANGE YOUR WAYS | GETTING OVER A BAD MOOD

Saturday, 18 November 2017

A completely different post today, I am going to talk about a couple of tips to help you shift that bad mood during the day. This is real guy's trust me!

I will admit that I am one of those girls who can sometimes suffer with waking up in a foul mood and I have no idea where it has come from. Unfortunately it is just one of those things.

It has taken me a hell of a long time to figure out ways of distracting myself from those nasty mood swings, and now that I am starting to find them out I thought it would be a great time to tell you about them especially as we are heading into the those dark nights and winter days. I love using my make up brushes to apply my makeup more than my hands or even a beauty blender, yes I am one of those people that isn't a huge fan of the beauty blender. I mean don't get me wrong its a fantastic beauty tool but I still love using my brushes.

There are so many branded and unbranded make up brushes & tools out there. Some are fantastic quality that you will find lasting for a long time, years!! Some are still great but might not last the length of time you expect or want but that's OK if your happy with it.

When I first starting playing around with make up, my brush collection was minimal, I'm talking about two brushes in total. That's crazy to think because now my collection is much larger. I think I started out with a powder brush and an eye shadow brush and was it. As I have grown fond of make up over the past 10 years I have found that brushes are the way forward for me and decided to slowly expand my collection to varied brush sizes and for different make up application.

I love the brand Real Techniques and I'm 100% sure most people will have heard of the brand and know exactly what the brush collections look like. Although I do have a couple of brushes from other brands too.

OK so above are my everyday favourite brushes. (excuse the fact they may be a little dirty). Now I do own more brushes than this but like I said I wanted to show you my everyday brushes and these are for the base of the face. So the eyeshadow & lip brushes are not included in this collection but I will share those with you another day.

So from left to right - First off I have the large powder brush by Real Techniques. This is an award wining brush which makes you question why you wouldn't want to pick this up. It is made up of synthetic hairs, they don't shed the hairs and it feels really soft on the skin. I don't use this for applying powder I actually use it for applying bronzer as it makes this process super quick especially if I'm getting ready for work in the morning, but it still leaves a flawless look. You can use this brush for many different uses. Powder, bronzer, blusher, whatever you want it works with everything.

Next up is the Blusher brush (again from Real techniques). These are all the same brand so I wont repeat my self with the next few brushes. So another award wining brush, I love this one, it has long synthetic hairs and is shaped beautifully to help contour and define your cheek bones. I use this with powder blushes and use circular motions on the apples of my cheeks and it spreads the product  evenly across my cheeks, although you can use this with cream products too and works just as well.

Right in the middle is the Setting brush - this is by far my favourite from this collection pictured above. It is perfect for helping set small areas of the face with a bit of powder. I use this mostly under my eye area. I pop the brush into a small amount of powder and pat this under my eyes and around the creases of my nose. The flexibility of the bristles allows me to create a flawless look without my skin appearing cakey. This also great for adding a bit of highlighter to the skin if you don't own a fan brush, this works just as well.

Another favourite of mine is the multi - task brush, I use this everyday to set my face with powder, I prefer a medium sized brush for this as it gets into all points of the skin, but still spreads the product evenly across all surfaces. Just like it says it is a multi task brush so if you want to use it for blush, bronzer, powder or highlighter you can do.

And finally it is the target blending brush, which weirdly enough I cant find anywhere now. I cant remember if I picked this up with a set or weather it was a single brush. It was a while ago so I am sorry, however this is perfect for blending concealer into the tough blemishes I can also work the product into the skin with the help from this brush, its short but compact and helps leave those tough red spots covered and concealed. This does also help to conceal around the nose and leave a smooth finish to the skin so I am so pleased that is still have this brush as it is fab.

All of these brushes are amazing, and like I said I have others too, but these are the ones I use in my everyday make  up application so they have a become to a staple to my routine. They are long lasting and they don't seem to wear, the handles are easy to wipe clean and have stayed in tact. The hairs themselves are really easy to wash and they dry very quickly, they go straight back to their original shape so there is no need to worry about them being misshapen after the cleaning process. These are all round fab brushes to have in your collection.

If you are more of a sponge kinda lover then don't worry as Real Techniques offer those too. I have the miracle complexion sponge and this is brilliant for foundation so you must give them a try too.

Let me know what your favourite brushes are from this brand? Or tell me about a brand you think is worth a try, I would love to know :)

MY GO TO MAKE UP BRUSHES | REAL TECHNIQUES

I have decided just recently that I am going to share my new favourite beauty/skincare/haircare finds every time I feel like I found a gem of a product.

So to start this off, I did a Tesco's food shop about a month back and realised that I needed  new moisturiser as I was pretty much out of anything else I had. As you do when you've got the almighty task of trailing around all the aisles in Tesco's, I hit the last aisle and just wanted to get home so I rushed about and picked up this moisturiser from the brand Nivea which I guessed would be an alright skincare product as it was reasonably priced.

This is the Nivea rich moisturising day cream for dry & sensitive skin. Now I will mention that I have combination skin but I had been suffering with a bit of dry skin around my forehead and the skin around my nose had been feeling quite sensitive so I decided I would give a cream that's suited for sensitive skin a try.

I actually use this cream morning and evening, I find it's especially great for using in my night time skin routine. It is such a rich hydrating cream that seems to last all the through the night until I get up the following morning.

I've been using this as my main cream for day & night applications pretty much everyday. I sometimes forget but to be fair I've been much better at remembering to use it. Since using it so often, my skin feels incredibly soft and I feel like my make up application is much better. I feel foundation sits on my skin so much better than before, it glides on smoother and lasts much longer than normal, I am perfectly happy saying that I really feel that the moisturiser is the reason why.

This cream also has a SPF of 15 so as well as giving the skin intense hydration it also helps protect your skin in sunlight. Its main ingredient is Almond oil which we all know works wonders for really dry skin. I feel that it has given my skin that extra boost of hydration and I cant thank that product enough. As we are getting to those colder months now, this product will be a perfect staple to your skincare routine, and it will be in mine. :)

So far in my life of using moisturisers, this is the 2nd product that I have found that I can completely trust and say it has really helped improve the appearance of my skin. You will probably remember my other favourite which is the Bee Good plump and firm moisturiser that I absolutely love, however I have found another favourite that I will be keeping in my skincare collection for a long time which is this one.

You can pick this day moisturiser from most drugstores and supermarkets so you'll have no problems trying to get your hands on it, but if you are stuck I have left a link below for you guy's to click on to.

SKINCARE FIND | NIVEA RICH MOISTURISING DAY CREAM
