Wow, I know before you say anything it has been a little while since a new post has been uploaded. As you can imagine things are starting to become real and a lot has been happening, not just wedding plans but just life in general so writing has taken a back sit for just a little while, but I am back and have a brand new post for you to read!

So yes it is all about finding that perfect wedding dress for your special day, after a couple of months of being engaged I started to ask friends and family when they thought would be the best time to start looking at wedding dresses, and to be honest the answer is whenever you feel ready, just don't leave it to late obviously.

A couple of tips I will share with you

1. Browse through as many magazines as possible, cut out pictures stick them into a wedding planner, this will help you see the different styles you like.

2. Phone a few different bridal shops and get some advice from them as to when the best time to start shopping is, and what happens at a first appointment. These questions will definitely help you as this was exactly what I did myself.

I spent a good few weeks putting together a few different ideas into my planner, different neck lines, embellishment's etc. This helped my nerves before the day of my appointment because before I even started browsing through magazines thoughts that ran through my head were that I didn't think I would suit a wedding dress, I had no idea what style would be right for me.

I had my first appointment at a bridal place just a few miles away from my village which have so many fantastic reviews and pictures from other brides on their wedding day which really put me at ease when deciding on a shop to go to. I decided to just take my mum to my first appointment, this was my decision but you may want to take more people with you, maybe your bridesmaids, mother of the groom etc. It is entirely your choice who you want to take, you can even go on your own.

When we both walked into the bridal lounge we were greeted by a lovely lady called Rachel she made me feel at ease straight away, she led us into where all the lovely gowns were and explained how the appointment would work. We were left to browse for 10 mins while she went off to make us a drink so we got to have a good look at he dresses and put little heart cushions over the dresses I wanted to try, which turned out to be quite a few to my surprise.

A couple of tips while your at your first bridal appointment

1.Try on as many dresses, try the styles that you don't think will suit you. I did and it surprised me as styles I thought I wouldn't like, actually suited me.

2.Ask any questions you may have, even if you think your being silly, your not.

Anyway what you really wanna know is did I find my dress??

The answer .... Yes I did!!

As soon as I tried it on I said to Rachel "I can imagine my nan saying its such a bonny dress" and I knew that mum would have the biggest smile on her face when I walked out from behind the curtain.
I was right too, as soon as I came out my mum looked at me and said it was gorgeous and it was my dress. It stood out from all the other dresses I tried. I LOVE MY WEDDING DRESS.

* Strangely a few days after my first appointment I was back in my wedding planner book sticking pictures of shoes & accessories when I noticed that I had actually stuck a picture of my chosen dress in it without even realising. This was done before my appointment, so now I feel like that dress is 100% for me. :)

I wont be sharing any pictures of my dress right now, I will share them after the wedding but I will let you know the designer :)

My dress is by Stella York - you should definitely take a look at their dress as they are simply stunning.

That is today's wedding chats guy's, I hope you've enjoyed the read, I will be back  soon with another wedding diary. :)

Have any of you brides to be found your perfect dress yet?

Time to start looking for the bridesmaid dresses. I have 4 amazing ladies that will be by my side on the day. We have found the right dresses for all of them but I wouldn't say the process has been an easy one when looking for them. Luckily I knew what sort of style would suit the girls and so did they.

If I could give you one tip - Get your bridesmaids together or include them in a group chat on what's app/Facebook chat. Get them to let you know what sort of style they would prefer to wear. I know its your day but getting an idea of what your girls would like/not like will make things easier for you to start with. For example all of my girls let me know that strapless dresses weren't their favourites. It made it a lot easier for me.

You can either take your bridesmaids dress shopping into high street stores or even bridal shops that design or sell bridesmaids dress. Or like me you can browse the Internet and purchase them of a site that sell dresses. For me this was a much easier option as it can be quite difficult when you all work/have kids or live further away. We all had a good browse on all the high street sites and bridal sites and sent pics into a group chat and got each others opinions.

It took us a little while to find the right colour & style but we got there. When I say it took a while I don't mean hours, I'm talking a good couple of weeks. I would say the colour is the hardest to get right. Our colour for the girls dresses needed to be a very pale nude/pink. You will be surprised how hard it is to find that perfect colour to match your theme.

I ordered the sizes for the girls and got them delivered to my address so I could have a look and make sure I was happy, and then from there the girls came and tried them. So far I'm happy with them and the girls are too. Sizes are pretty much spot on just a couple of small alterations but I think were almost there with them!!

We found the dresses off ASOS, if your after good quality and a wide selection of styles its defiantly worth checking out. The prices are great too, reasonable to a little more expensive if your happy to pay more.

Another tip for you - If your purchasing dresses online please check out the sites reviews on trust pilot. The last thing you want is stress from sites that are not genuine I have read sooo many bad reviews from sites I almost purchased from.

A couple of sites I almost bought from but didn't go ahead with after reading reviews and talking to other people are listed below. * (Not everyone has had bad experiences but for me the bad out way the good)

I think another question that a lot of brides will be wanting to know is should you pay for the dresses/ or should you ask your bridesmaids to chip in a little. I questioned this for a little while but in my eyes I have asked the girls to stand with me on the day so I felt like myself and my fiancé should pay for them. However to keep costs down we stuck to a budget for each dress, and surprisingly we came well under budget.
It is completely your choice as to how you do it, remember it is your day & your plans.

So it is just the accessories and shoe's to go now, we probably keep those pieces quite simple, but for now they can wait as we still have quite a bit of time to go.

That's today's wedding chats!

How are your plans going? Have you chosen your bridesmaid dresses yet?

Hi again, time for some more wedding chats today. We had a couple of weeks free from wedding planning which has actually been quite relaxing as of course we all know that it can get a little bit stressful at times.

Before we had some chill time from all the planning we did have to come to some decision about how we wanted our save the date cards to be designed. This has been the hardest thing for me to get my head around so far. I know what your thinking "You have so much more planning to go yet, its gonna get harder" I know!! HELP

So there are a couple of different ways you can go about your save the dates. To be honest you don't even have to do them if you feel like it is an unwanted extra. A lot of people I have spoken to said that they only gave out invites and not both. This is completely your choice, we decided that we would do both just because our wedding is still a year away (I say a year, it's actually about 10 months) so its a nice idea to let people know that they will want to pop that date in their diary's as a year is a long time and a lot of people can forget those important dates.

So we had decided that my mum would be the one to help us design and create our save the date's. We had a look at possibly getting them made up by a printing website but in the end we thought it would be a little more personal to have them hand made by my mum. She loves card and craft making so she was more than happy to get involved in that part. It can be a little more time consuming but because we have a good year we thought that it gives us enough time, so far all is going well, we are near to finishing them off and hopefully getting them all posted out by the end of the week! (Fingers Crossed).

I will admit deciding on the style of save the date ideas was a difficult one to choose, we obviously know the theme/style of our wedding so we knew that it had to tie in together. We also wanted them to match the day & evening invites when we get round to them. It took a couple of try's to find out exactly how I wanted the save dates, (when I say 'I') I mean my fiancé was quite happy with whatever we went for, he didn't understand why I was getting so stressed over a save the date card. Finding the right size had to be right and what was to be written on the card to be the right information too.

I loved the idea of that vintage/rustic but simple look to our stationary, as you can see by the pic its not quite rustic but I feel like it has that simple vintage finish and I love them. Mum has done a fab job!!

These were made with plain white card and then embossed with the outside design! Printed with the typing we wanted on both sides. The other side has our names and basically making our guests aware that they will be invited to join us on our special day. The cards are then finished off with little flowers (stamped out from coloured card) and then finally a few little pearls stuck down with glue. Simple!!

My tip to you if you are choosing to have Save the Dates - Keep it simple as it is a little reminder for your guests to remember that upcoming date. The invites are where you can go a little more detailed on.

Like I keep saying Pinterest is 100% your friend when it comes to helping you find ideas to fit your wedding styles. Here is my account linked below if you ever want to get some ideas but there are plenty of wedding boards that you can follow, so be sure to search them all.

WEDDING DIARY | DESIGNING SAVE THE DATES

A favourite part of the wedding planning for sure in my thoughts. Why?

This is where you really get to find out about yourself and your style. (In my opinion you do anyway). You get to search the web for lots of decor ideas, bridesmaid colours, invites etc. I also think its what really brings your ideas together and starts put things in a real place.

It did take me a little while to discover what our theme would be and what suits us both. My thinking behind our theme is our guest's will look at the decor and realise that this is what my fiancé and I are about.

Our theme and colour scheme started from trying to find a wedding planner that we would enjoy sticking ideas into and happy to show off. Our wedding planner has the colours that we have chosen apart from just one colour which it doesn't have included but that's fine!

I love pastel/shabby chic colours. Think Cath Kidston as well, the creams, pinks, pale green and blues & greys! yup that's me all over!! I dream to have that farmhouse, shabby chic home one day, that is my sort of style. My fiancé loves anything Barbour related, really enjoys the old style films and TV shows, he was recently obsessed about the series Peaky Blinders. Our colours that we have chosen (well I made the final decision on this one) are duck egg blue, dusky pink, gold and a whitish cream. They may sound a little complicated but trust me on this one!!

Find  the colours that you associate yourselves with the most, i.e what colours you choose to wear a lot of the time, colours you use in your home. If your partner is very much involved in the planning as you are then use their favourite colours too. My partner is involved but not so much when it comes to having the perfect colours for the big day.

To be honest when we first spoke it all he wanted a colour that he described as a football club... He loved the idea of Anfield Red (his words). When we first decorated our bedroom it was that colour we chose, it didn't stay that way for long it was just too much!! So when it came to deciding on the colour for our wedding I just couldn't agree, so I got to choose the colours. :)

Another thing to consider is the season. If your getting married in the winter, red is a gorgeous colour to use, it's got that warm Christmas feeling!!

As we are getting married in the summer, we thought lighter pastel colours would work much better. (while I'm writing this I am actually hoping we have lovely weather for June next year, because right now its raining and its the 1st week in June).

Next up is deciding if your having a theme to your wedding, which is something not everybody will pick. You can just stick with the colours of your choice and keep everything a bit more simple, or you can go a little bit further with choice's and have a theme to your big day.

We hadn't even really discussed a theme to our wedding at all, we were just working on colours at the time. It wasn't until we went to a wedding fayre with my mum that we had realised that the ideas we were coming up with regarding groomsmen suits, flowers, table decor, invites etc. They all had a certain theme to them, it was my mum that actually said "I think you both have a theme starting to come together".

So yes we have now decided for sure what our theme is for our wedding and this suits both of our personality's. If you've seen my Pinterest board then you've probably already guessed what the theme is but for those of you who maybe haven't seen we have decided with a Vintage/shabby chic feel to the wedding.

After our experience so far unless you know for sure what your theme is, don't worry about it too much, because the more you browse around at different ideas for your decor, stationary etc that's when themes start to run through your mind and come to you naturally. That's what happened to us anyway!!

And remember you don't have to call it a theme at all, at the end of the day... Its you and you're fiance's day and its all about what you both want!!

I think if you take one thing from this... a little idea lets say...

Get yourself and your fiance either on your laptops and phones and both browse through wedding ideas and start saving ideas that your instantly drawn to and love the idea of. Say after a half hour or longer or even over a few days both sit down and show each what you've come up with, you then start to get excited about what you both love and see your perfect day start to come together, trust me this works. Think of it as a fun way of brainstorming together, try not to get worked up about the possibility that you both might have different ideas... you can include little things from both of your ideas!!

If you would rather not use phones or laptops then get the wedding magazines out and get cutting and making mood boards or use wedding planners. We have used both ideas, we have my Pinterest boards and we also have a wedding planner that we have cut ideas out of and stuck them in!! :)

Anyway guy's that's everything for this post, I hope you've enjoyed reading and either taken some tips again or just happy to follow our diary!!

Have any of you guy's got a theme? Did you find it easy to pick your wedding colours??

I thought that this part of the wedding planning would be the easiest part, turns out I was wrong. We have now finalised our guest list, although there is still that chance that one or two may be added on yet but its pretty much complete.

We kept going back and forth to this list for a while because it was just too hard to try and get done in one go, choosing who should be invited to the day and who to the evening part, especially if your trying to keep cost down as well, as any bride and groom to be will know this part is basically where your budget can go out the window if your not careful.

To make things easier for us to keep track of everybody invited we have made a excel spreadsheet. I know professional eh?? For me it is anyway, that was my fiancé's idea! For now we have written the brides side and the grooms side so we can get and idea how many family members and friends we have on each side. Trust me this actually helped us decide who should be there for the day/evening.

Pinterest and wedding forums are definitely your friend when trying to get some advice on this part, I've spent hours looking for a bit of guidance as to keeping guests to the right amount without going to crazy.

A lot of people have said to us that you should share your ceremony with the people you are closest to, and mean a lot to you. This made a lot of sense as they are the most important people in our lives. Don't get me wrong if you have an unlimited budget invite everybody that you want, but if you are trying to keep that budget low then just stick to inviting the most treasured friends and family for the ceremony.(That might sound harsh, but trust me you'll understand what I mean!)

So by looking out our excel sheet we put a mark next to the guest we want to share the day with and who we want to share the evening with. We kept going back the list everyday to make sure we were happy with the decision. We then broke the list down to Groom Side, Day & Night and the same with bride side.

Obviously on the day we want our guest's to come together and get to know everybody so we will encourage everyone to sit on either sides of the aisle at the ceremony, but the list just enables us to see all of the guests on each side.

Oh and a little tip If you do try the excel way ... Next your guest, if they have a role in the wedding jot it down next to their name! I find this helps if you have you have family checking through your guest list to help you out they can get an idea of who is doing what!!

Something else which we found helpful when it came to deciding on some guests I will leave below, this was the biggest help, there was no umms and arrrs!! It was just simple....

I have this also saved to my wedding hints & tips Pinterest board here

That's pretty much my experience with deciding the guest list for our wedding, I hope bits from this post has helped you in some way or you have just enjoyed following our wedding diary so far. If there are any bride or grooms to be let me know how your getting on with your plans so far?

WEDDING DIARY | THE GUEST LIST

Tuesday, 6 June 2017

So the wedding plans have begun....

After announcing our engagement in November 2016 plans have slowly started coming together and it is beginning to feel more real. Wow OK so I feel happy in telling you the date for our wedding day. So we have decided our date will be 30th June 2018.

We thought 18 months from our engagement was a good amount of time to plan and save for the big day, and just enjoy being engaged too as lets be honest once the wedding plans start it can be very stressful at times, so I think having plenty of time to relax and plan at the same time is definitely some good advice.

A bit of advice for helping you come to a decision with a suitable date for your big day -

Think of the weather/season, maybe look at what the weather was like the year before especially if your thinking about an outdoor wedding.
Obviously you cant guarantee the weather will be perfect but this will definitely help you come closer to choosing a month.

Choosing the date was a little bit harder for us but we simply chose the end of the month because its nearer to pay day for a lot of people (not all but most) and seeing as a lot of our guest will be using accommodation in our venue it can help towards cost.

I know that this day is all about the bride & groom but I discussed this with my fiancé and I would like my guests to feel comfortable and happy so why not make it a little easier for them too.

Another part of our day we have sorted is our venue, I think personally this is big part of the wedding plans you should concentrate on getting completed in your first stage as we all know a lot of places get booked up very quickly and you want to be sure its the place you can see you and your fiancé spending your day at.

I am not going to be sharing the venue in this post but I will include it at some point along the way in my wedding journal.

We decided after a few chats that we didn't want to be married in a church and that we wanted to hold everything together in one venue, as this is easier for a lot of our guests and it also means we can save some money by not needing any transport for the day.

So we had a look at several different venues which were all beautiful places, and we had considered one but still had one viewing left at another place in a small town about 20 minuets away from our home.

I knew this was the place after a couple of minuets of being there, when we were shown around the venue and accommodation I had a few tears and my fiancé just looked at me and his words were "This is the one isn't it?"
(Honestly the place is just beautiful, as soon as we walked around different parts of the venue I could see myself getting married there!! It's perfect!!)

With that we had a long chat with the wedding coordinator and discussed our ideal date, and the sort of day we wanted and we had reserved the date. After a couple of weeks we took both sets of parents to show them around and to gather their thoughts on the place which was all positive so with that we have now paid the deposit for the day and we now have that venue booked for our whole wedding day. Yay!

I will leave this post at just talking about the date and venue as I could really go on and on, but I hope you enjoy following us on our wedding planning journey. I cant wait to share more chats with you!!

If you cant wait for the next post, keep an eye out on my wedding inspiration board on Pinterest. I will link it below!! There's some ideas I have gathered together.

WEDDING DIARY | CHOOSING THE DATE & VENUE

Okay so I have had a good few weeks to review March Glossy box and I must say I m pretty impressed with the products, lets first look at the box ....

What do you think? Looks fab doesn't it?

The answer is yes! I have really enjoyed using the products from this months box.

Lets start with the oOlution Eye cream

This is said to help reduce dark circles and bags with the help from its natural ingredients. I have been using this everyday, morning and night. Its actually been a long time since I last used a eye cream so often. I will admit that this cream has helped brighten my eye area a little bit but I naturally have dark circles and upper lids so they are still dark to me, but I have noticed a little bit of difference. The main change I feel this product has helped with is actually moisturising my eye are. My skin feels super smooth and my concealer seems to be gliding on much easier after I have applied this cream and a small amount really does go a long way so I still have plenty of this left and has been a good few weeks!!

This one of my favourites from this box, we have This Works - In Transit Camera Close Up Primer

A mouthful right? However that doesn't bother me one bit as I have loved this product so much, so this is a primer and moisturiser in 1. This is perfect for quick get up and go look, why?
Well after a quick clean of my face I apply a good amount of this all over my face and neck and then pop a little bit of foundation and i have that natural dewy look. It means if I am in a rush in a morning which is normal for a lot of us. It makes those 2 moisturising and priming steps faster because its a multi action in just one product! Perfect!!

Firstly as a moisturiser this is fantastic, I love how this makes my skin feel each time, this product has their bio-boost which is a blend of their anti-oxidant plant oils which helps to rebuild and protect the skin barrier. I can honestly say this is helping my skin to look a lot more youthful, by brightening and tightening. My skin looks more radiant and much healthier. I am honestly shocked at how much I am enjoying this product.

That is just about the moisturising aspects, this also works as a primer and boy does this help keep my make up in place and last a lot longer than normal. My makeup glides onto my skin beautifully and recently I have had a few compliments on how my make up application has been looking and that is purely thanks to this little gem. It helps give my foundation more of a dewy glow which a lot of primers don't do very well. Oh and if you didn't already know Victoria Beckham uses this so how could you possibly say no to this when her skin looks so dreamy!!

I would just like to point out this is more of a luxury skincare product so if you don't mind a little bit of a splurge this is something you should try. I have linked the page above the picture in the title so you can head over and take a look but so you know now it is £30

OK, so lets move on, that was a long review on just that one product eh.. (sorry about that)

So this is the Crabtree and Evelyn Somerset Meadow Hand cream

This is my 3rd tube of this Brands hand cream, I received one as a gift one Christmas and then 2 of these creams from Glossy box. Each time I have enjoyed using these as they are super moisturising and scented so beautifully. This particular scent is very floral hence then name (Somerset Meadows). These creams are infused with Shea butter and macadamia nut oil so as you can imagine they are very hydrating so if you have rough hands this is the cream for you to try.

The other great benefit to this cream is the size, this is perfect to carry around in your handbag but bright enough to see if its buried beneath all your bits and bobs, oh and also very reasonably priced!!

This is another favourite of mine from this box, it is the Schwarzkopf Blond Me Keratin Restore Bonding Shampoo

First let me just start off by saying this shampoo isn't just for blondes, as some of you may already no that I don't have blonde hair. OK so the packaging is gorgeous whats better than gold?? Beautiful!

This has been leaving my hair super smooth and smelling gorgeous I love it when you have dried your hair and you can still smell the scents from your shampoo's and conditioner's. This shampoo I can smell all day, the best way I can describe this is think of that smell after you've left the hair salon and you swoosh you hair about and all you can smell is the products they have used.... yeh its that sort of smell this shampoo leaves me with!!
This helps cleanse the hair and also create new bonds within the hairs fibres by strengthening any weakened areas of the hair, so its a real luxury restoring shampoo. You can also pick up the shampoo to match the shampoo so be sure to check those out.

The final product is this cute palette, it is the Sleek Eye And Cheek Palette.

This is such a pretty spring/summer palette, the light colours are so natural but with a hint of glow and highlight. I have been really enjoying using the two orange shades on my lids recently. There are also 2 beautiful blushers in the palette, one a very baby pink, and the other is a highlighter/blush but to be honest I have been using it as a highlighter as it isn't very pink toned. ( The shade in the top left corner).

This palette is a great kit for beginners make up as the shades are not highly pigmented so no need to worry about any obvious mistakes but they are beautiful colours for a subtle day look. This palette is available in a few other different so be sure to check the link above and check those out.

And that is March's Glossy box, I hope you all enjoyed the read..

I want to talk about my recent spot saviour as I have been suffering badly with deep under the skin spots that have been very painful, red and incredibly dry. I do get these sort of spots occasionally but this tends to be hormonal near to the dreaded monthly cycle :(

However I have been under a lot of stress recently, and had a bit of a low point so I think this had a lot to do with my skin being at its worst yet!!

These spots seemed to gather around my chin and the top of my forehead, although the chin was most definitely the worst area. So I know its normal for our skin to have bad moments and I fully get that, so I don't get myself in a tizz about it because they have to take their course but there are products out there that can help towards a faster recovery. Not just products help but diet, exercise etc.

So this post is about a face mask that I received a while back in one of my Glossy boxes, January 2016 to be exact. So when I first started using this I wasn't struggling with bad skin apart from a small amount of dry patches around my nose, but that was it.

I have said before that this product is great, its a thin watery consistency (more water based) so it feels super refreshing and soothing when applying to the face. I have been using this 2 times a week for the past few week, it has taken a bit of time for my skin to react but its getting so much better now. So after removing all my make up I apply this to a cleansed a face and leave on for 10 minutes and wash of with warm water and this gentle exfoliating pad, this is super easy to remove there is no need for harsh rubbing as its a super thin & clear mask.

This helps to regenerate new skin cells, and keep the skin hydrated and nourished. I have really been able to see a difference in the improvement of my skin being repaired. An area on my chin was the worst and my skin was so sore and dry and after the first couple of applications the skin started to repair itself and areas of dry flaky patches are slowly disappearing. One of the ingredients in this product is Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, now we all know that aloe is so good for your body, but when it comes to the skin it helps to reduces dry or damaged skin and helps restore suppleness.

This also helps remove impurities, its sometimes thought that when a product is said to help remove impurities it will simply stop them coming out, or just get rid of them completely. But in my eyes the products help to remove by drawing them out from the skin, which doesn't mean the spot will go away instantly it has to get worse before getting better, like a lot of things. So while using this mask my under the skin spots did come to the surface and then have gradually been disappearing.

So to give you an idea as to what I have been dealing with I've attached a picture.
(I am sorry if this is not what you want to see)

This may not seem too bad to some people as you might be someone who struggles a lot more than me but please be aware that I am just sharing my experience with a product that has helped my skin in some way.

And this is after a few weeks of using the Dermo defence mask, so my skin is slowly improving thanks to its help.

I would highly recommend this mask if your sensitive to a lot of other masks out there as  this is designed for sensitive skin, it isn't to fragranced so it doesn't feel harsh on the face. If you just want a light pampering mask for a male or female then this is certainly worth a go and you will see a difference in the appearance of your skin. You only have to see by the photos!!

I hope you all enjoyed reading this and seeing the improvement, leave comments below of any other product recommendations that you may have used yourselves!
